Mbappé Wins Court Ruling in Dispute with Paris Saint-Germain
Paris, France – In a major development, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), the governing body of France’s top professional football league, has ruled in favor of French star Kylian Mbappé in his dispute with his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The 25-year-old forward, who joined Real Madrid in the summer, had accused PSG of owing him unpaid wages and bonuses, amounting to €55 million (approx. £45.8 million).
According to Mbappé, he had not received his last three months‘ salaries, and he still has a claim on a loyalty bonus tied to his PSG contract. PSG, however, contests this, citing a verbal agreement with Mbappé to forgo these payments.
The LFP’s Disciplinary Commission last month recommended a mediation process between Mbappé and PSG, which the 25-year-old player rejected. The commission has now ruled in his favor, ordering PSG to pay him the outstanding wages and bonuses.
"We have to pay him the parts of his salary that he is claiming," the LFP told AP News. "This decision is final, and there is no right to appeal."
PSG has since appealed the decision, stating that they will take the matter to court. "We are forced to take the case to the relevant courts," the club said in a statement.
The controversy surrounding Mbappé’s departure from PSG has been ongoing, with the club and the player at odds over the terms of his contract. Mbappé eventually joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer, after his contract with PSG expired.
