West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Tottenham Face FA Charges for Misconduct after Tense 4-1 Win
In a match marred by controversy, West Ham’s forward Mohammed Kudus and Tottenham Hotspur were charged by the Football Association (FA) for misconduct following the 4-1 win for the Spurs on Saturday.
Kudus, who scored the opening goal for the Hammers, was sent off four minutes from the end of the match after a confrontation with Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven and substitute Pape Matar Sarr, which the FA deemed "unsportsmanlike" and "provocative".
According to an FA spokesperson, "Tottenham Hotspur failed to ensure that their players did not behave in an unsportsmanlike or provocative manner in the 82nd minute" while West Ham "failed to ensure that their players did not simultaneously behave in an unsportsmanlike, provocative, and/or violent manner".
The controversy was just one of several flashpoints in the match, which saw Spurs bounce back to win 4-1 with goals from Dejan Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma, and Son Heung-min, who returned from injury to command the left wing for the hosts.
The FA has given Kudus, West Ham, and Tottenham until Thursday, October 24, to respond to the charges.
In other news, Son Heung-min returned from injury and was back leading the charge for Tottenham, while Oracle tweeted about the match, saying: "Son Heung-min was back after an injury and commanding the left wing for @SpursOfficial! @Oracle pic.twitter.com/sfCJDAceAg" – Prem League (@premierleague) October 19, 2024".
